It's that time of the year!
The time for the cuckoo to sing its love songs;
Hiding in flowering Mango trees,
Catching a whiff of the aromatic nectar,
Tempting its mate with a lilting coo.
Bees too think it's time
To be busy making sweet, sweet honey!
They spring into action making flowers blossom,
Scattering their pollens across sprawling meadows
Buzzing around giving wake up calls.
Butterflies glide in their pretty wings,
Whispering Nature's missive in the air,
Beguiling the Laburnums to burn bright and yellow,
Like chandeliers hanging in the sky
Arching the world in a beauteous canopy.
Indeed it is springtime,
A time to feast on the scent of blooms,
Primroses, Poppies, Periwinkles and Pansies;
The tiny, redolent white tulips,
Welcoming fresh, new leaves on trees.
The sunflower fields stretching on and on,
Lining the roads with bobbing heads,
Happily gawking at their beloved Sun,
Questioning its absence through the winter months,
Relieved at long last that it's springtime!

Peeping from their burrows with curious eyes,
Waving their bushy tails,
Squirrels and chipmunks run in squiggles.
They merrily chase wind-blown berries,
And gleefully nibble on ripening nuts.

Happily gawking at their beloved Sun,

Relieved at long last that it's springtime!
